What is a Triptych? Triptychs were typically large religious paintings you could open up on Sundays to reveal a beautiful inner painting. This is how the outside of the doors looked like. and below is the painting when it is opened up. revealing a bright mysterious scene depicting symbolic scenes of the garden of Eden, degeneration and corruption of man until paradise becomes hell. |
throughout the whole painting are dozens upon dozens of little scenes which all tell their own part of the story, which have taught me about how these people saw the world. where spirituality was more important than the material, where art was visual poetry. It's beyond beautiful in it's depictions and it's thinking.
