Ideas behind how I wanted to answer the brief:
The rocky road recipe is represented with the insincerity cheesy 80s advert.
There is by now in 2021 so much cynicism and skepticism towards that style of media despite our media still being quite similar just that it's got another coat of paint over it. there's hidden elements there like the female chef is holding a gun to the back of his head. A point about all the fake smiles. How fake fast food advertising is with food stylists to get you hungry for a burger that was actually filled with oil instead of BBQ sauce, or a bowl of PVA glue and cereal instead of Milk and cereal. Many of those practices now illegal or at the bare minimum in a legal grey area. There's an image there as well of a scary hallway from a horror Game from 2014 known as PT. The images in my opinion of the bowl with it's stirred contents in black and white raise feelings of discomfort and disgust. I would say nausea, but that would be a bit hyperbolic. But it's not too far off.

Bringing in My Personality
My style as you can see from the three images below, is a bit dark and has a certain collage aesthetic a lot of the time. And so I wanted to answer the brief in that style.
after figuring out the aesthetic and feeling I wanted to go for, I made the Rocky road, took photos as references and began planning out designs.
after I finished them in black and white I thought that I should add color since in this sort of illustration, they use colors to guide your eyes, and visually stimulate the viewer.
Final Result:
I Think it turned out well, strong personality comes through. It's interesting.
I don't usually draw food and never have tried to convey something like a recipe with no words before, in that way it was a good exercise. While I like the other themes I weaved into it. I don't know how other people will react, would they even notice the gun? will their eyes focus on the woman in the hallway? how cold and lifeless the female chef's eyes are? I don't know. I hope so.
